Art @ Ascendant

 
 

Mission


As an affordable housing developer, AND recognizes the value of art in the East Harlem neighborhood as a community asset with a history in activism and social justice. We seek to incorporate publicly accessible art on our current properties, as well as integrate artwork into the design process for our pipeline projects.

Through Art @ Ascendant, we seek to develop a network of East Harlem’s artists, arts institutions, community organizations, and city agencies to support arts and culture in the neighborhood. We see art as a tool, not only to beautify the neighborhood, but also to strengthen community identity and social cohesion.
